The Journey

This entry is part 4 of 5 in the series The Square Root of Happiness: a collection of drabbles

“They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.” — Revelation 22:4

“You must stop and smell the delightful flowers growing along the path and taste the goodness in each fresh morning…” Abiri had a tendency to wax poetic when he got onto a topic he liked.

“Abiri.” Renee laughed as she crouched down next to the old trader. “It’s not about the journey.”

Abiri harrumphed indignantly, then narrowed his eyes shrewdly at his young friend. “Then what is it about?”

Renee stared off into the distance toward the King’s Gate, rising over the far end of the city and remembered His words: ‘Do not stop until you see My face.’
